The Freedom to Read Project is a 501(c)(3) organization that advocates to protect student access to information and books in our public schools and communities. Over 70% of Americans oppose book bans in public schools. Yet in 2023 and 2024, there were over 10,000 book bans across the country. These bans are a form of censorship that limits students' exposure to a variety of perspectives, fostering an incomplete understanding of history and society.

The Freedom to Read Project exists to develop education and research materials to help limit book bans and education censorship across the country.

We are parents dedicated to protecting access to information and ideas - particularly in our public schools and libraries. We provide educational and research resources to parents and groups around the country to ensure they understand what's happening in their public schools and can hold those schools accountable for fulfilling their duty to keep every decision student-centered, especially as they face the “Parents’ Rights” movement.
